Dissapointed

Today, we are fighting injustice. #blacklivesmatter is a slogan that has made history. Racial Justice, Women Empowerment, non-violent protesting rights, equality to all religions, these are only some of the topics which is being promoted and is being given serious thoughts by activists all over the world. But is it being shown by the media?

Free media, it is a topic which is excrucuatingly imperative for democracy and freedom. Billions of people depend on the different news channels and newspapers for daily news and updates. It should be the job of the media to uphold and spread the good values and rights. But, the media has dissapointed us. It doesn’t spread news, it spreads spice. Spice, which will get it news. Spice, which will get it TRP. It has dissapointed Democracy, The people, it has dissapointed everyone. Part of this is our fault. We are the ones who don’t give it enough pressure. We are the ones who don’t care anymore, what goes on in the world of the media. We can be fed fake news. We can be given biased forms of the events, and still we gobble it all up. We accept it, although we know it is not true. This is not a fight only for news. It’s a fight for rights, freedom, democracy, and equality.

Some news channels plan to uphold these values. They want to make a change. They are making a change. It’s our job help them. It’s our job to demand for real news. It’s not the hashtags which changes the world. It’s our persistence, our demands, and our love for freedom which changes the world. Gandhiji once said – “Be the change you want to see in the world.” I think that it’s high time we be that change.
